Coming this Fall: Four New Club Sports Join the Lineup
The University of South Dakota Club Sports landscape is undergoing a large expansion.
Starting in the Fall of 2026, four highly anticipated teams—Women's Soccer, Endurance Sports, Tennis, and Swim—will officially launch, offering students new opportunities for competitive, student-led athletics. The expansion bridges a gap in USD's recreational sports ecosystem. While men's soccer has enjoyed a strong presence on campus for years, female athletes will now have their own dedicated pitch to showcase their skills, build a legacy, and compete in regional club circuits.
Adding Women's Soccer, alongside three dynamic co-ed programs, ensures that any student who wants to keep competing after high school has a home here.
Among the most versatile new additions is the Co-Ed Endurance Sports Club. Designed for athletes who want to push their physical limits, aerobic capacity and mental resilience, the club will offer structured training and community for three disciplines: biking, running, and swimming. Whether athletes are looking to specialize in distance running, hit the asphalt on two wheels, or combine all three to train for triathlons, the club promises a supportive community.
Joining the endurance athletes in the water is the new Co-Ed Swim Club, giving swimmers a chance to dive back into structured lane workouts and competitive meets without the grueling schedule of a varsity commitment. On the court, the new Co-Ed Tennis Club will serve up high-energy match play, bringing together students looking to keep their skills sharp through local and regional club tournament brackets.
The addition of these programs reflects a broader commitment to student wellness and community building at USD, transforming casual campus hobbies into organized, competitive organizations.
Roster recruitment for all four sport clubs is officially open. Prospective athletes, incoming freshmen, and current students looking to join the founding class of these programs are encouraged to take action ahead of the semester.
